The road to wellness goes in either direction. I view wellness as a broad term because there is a whole lot more to it.
It is a part of our lives everyday. Wellness is a guide for us to move forward. Hence the picture above sends out the message that a new road begins with wellness.
There is so much to discuss about the topic. I don’t even know where to begin. Actually, I will begin by saying that wellness is everywhere. Our interactions with others, our thoughts, our daily routines, etc. For a deeper dive into the world of health, it is best to understand the four factors.
The four factors of Wellness…
These factors are spiritual, emotional, physical and social.
Spiritual is a guiding force that drives us to make decisions for the greater good. Defined as expanding a sense of purpose and meaning in life, including one’s morals and ethics. Examples include, volunteering, being positive and optimistic, contributing to society, connecting with others, feeling a sense of belonging and practicing self-care.
Emotional is best described as showing empathy to the feelings of others. Emotionally healthy individuals tend to have strong and healthy coping skills that help them in testing and trying circumstances.
Physical is the daily motion of movement. Basic exercise (walking, running) are a good example of physical wellness. Do what you can to help strengthen and care for your body.
Social is connecting with people through positive conversations that gives a feeling of positivity. And our relationships with others can offer support during difficult times.
These are four great factors continue to bring flourishment to our lives everyday. As we continue on this road, it gives us the boost needed to enjoy every moment of our lives.
